Optical character recognition Package Scanning, or OCR Package Scanning, can be used at any building with Deliveries enabled and will work on any iPhone with the latest updates. The feature is optional and to be turned on for your building, please email Support@carson.live.
Package Scanning allows Staff users to scan their residents’ packages so that the system documents the delivery and notifies the residents of their delivery. Maintain an accurate record of all deliveries to the building in a fraction of the time!
Step 1
Find and click the Deliveries under the Operations features list on the app.
Step 2
Click on Scan Deliveries at the bottom of the screen.
Step 3
The app will use your phone’s camera to take an image of the label of the packaging you are entering.
OCR will look up and pull the following:
Resident Name
Unit Number
Courier Company
Tracking Number if Available
If the app is unable to recognize the label, you can click on Add Manually to bring you to the next screen. Clicking Turn On Flash will enable your phone’s flashlight to shine on the label when taking a picture.
Step 4
You will be redirected to the Add Delivery screen whether the OCR Scanning picks up the label successfully or you click Add Manually.
A successful OCR scan will pre-populate the Recipient (“To:”), Tracking Number, and Delivery Type. You can correct these fields if they are inaccurate. If adding the Delivery manually, all fields will be blank.
Tracking Number and Comments are optional. If adding manually, a photo of the delivery isn’t required either.
Toggling This is a pickup means the Delivery being scanned is due to be picked up by a courier.
Once details are confirmed, click Add Delivery to log the delivery and notify the resident.
